  • Mathematics @ St James'

Today’s mathematics classrooms should be dynamic places where children are involved and engaged in their own learning. This can be achieved through activities that promote higher level thinking, cooperative effort, extension and communication. It is through this contemporary research based knowledge that St James’ have restructured and revitalised the Mathematics block. Students will participate in learning experiences which provide opportunities for students to struggle productively with ideas and develop and use an increasingly sophisticated range of mathematical processes. Within the new Mathematics block students will be challenged and encouraged to have a growth mindset enabling all students to believe that they can learn anything and that their intelligence grows can grow.
